TSANet Europe Members' Meeting - IBM Mainz, Germany, December 7-8 2005
Following the success of our 2004 meeting in the same location in Germany , IBM kindly offered again to host our end of year 2 day meeting at the IBM Executive Briefing Center in Mainz. Dec 7-8 2005.

What a fantastic response to the invitations sent out to our members - over 50 attendees representing nearly 30 IT companies joined us for the meeting. With people travelling from:

Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, UK and USA.

Our host was Rainer Zielonka, Director Europe Storage Competence Center, who is also a Director on the TSANet Europe Board.

The purpose of a TSANet members' meeting is to facilitate knowledge sharing and discussion with support colleagues in a non-sales, non-competitive environment.

Also for members to be part of the decision process in future strategy of the TSANet organisation.

Stephanie Benson's task was to contact all the members in Europe and invite them to the meeting, also assisting with the many registrations. Stephanie was ably assisted in the logistics and planning by Cornelia Steffen, the IBM events coordinator at the Mainz facility. Leigh Darby was responsible for working with the guest speakers to brief on TSANet and create the agenda based on agreed appropriate themes and topics. Nicki Sanday also helped with logistics and administration during the event.

Proceedings commenced on Wednesday morning with an introduction to the meeting objectives and agenda from Colin Hughes (Symantec) - Chairman of the Europe Board of Directors. Rainer Zielonka had welcomed everyone to the briefing centre and had a wonderful “ice breaker “ in the form of a short one question quiz, the prize was presented to Dave Winpenny Computer Associates.

Well done Dave for getting the exact date of 13 BC, the year in which the Romans came to Mainz in their conquest of Northern Europe. And Dave assures us that Google on his mobile or a Blackberry was was never involved!

Joint second prize went to Donal O’ Beirne and Philip Hogan from Dell for being just one year out!

Colin Hughes, Symantec
“An excellent line up of guest speakers, it was really beneficial to see other vendors' approaches to TSANet implementation and customer surveys and the measuring of customer satisfaction.”
